At UAL’s new residences in Elephant & Castle (Highline Building) and Finsbury Park (Sketch House), Sylvia Moritz – a recent graduate of the Camberwell BA Graphic Design course – was commissioned by the Estates Team to provide bespoke wall murals in the common rooms.
In all new residences, the University has been looking to celebrate our student talent, as well as connect the buildings within the parts of London they are located.
Robin Holloway (UAL development manager responsible for both buildings) had seen and was impressed by Sylvia’s art a Camberwell College of Art degree show, and was delighted when she agreed to join the project team to provide bespoke artwork to meet UAL’s brief. Sylvia created fine art etchings of local landmarks in both Elephant & Castle and Finsbury Park, which were then digitally printed onto the wall coverings.
Both buildings opened in early September, and the common room in each have been hosting a chock-a-block programme of social events since, all against the backdrop of our talented UAL alumni!
